Liverpool forward Bobby Adekanye says that Barcelona and Lazio are interested in signing him this summer after he revealed he has lost confidence in the club.
After he revealed yesterday that he has lost confidence in Liverpool, Adekanye has said that Barcelona, Lazio and Willem II are keen to sign him.
“Lazio is one of the interested clubs, but it is not yet 100% decided,” Adekanye told Voetbal Zone.
“I also heard about Barcelona and in the Netherlands Willem II made itself heard. I can’t name the entire list of clubs now, because I could continue until tomorrow.”
While Liverpool are losing out on a very talented player by failing to convince Adekanye that Anfield is the best place for him, it’s not the end of the world.
In Rhian Brewster, Bobby Duncan and Paul Glatzel, there is a very strong current of promising attackers coming through the youth ranks.
Adding to that, Liverpool will likely only promote the best of the best to the first team as the quality up front is so high that players that aren’t obviously special struggle to beat the likes of Salah to a starting spot.
Dominic Solanke is a very good example. The Englishman won the Golden Ball at the 2017 U20 World Cup but was limited to a bit-role at Liverpool last season and only scored one goal all season.
Solanke is still a very bright young talent but he simply didn’t make the grade at Anfield.
Losing Adekanye will be a blow for the Academy but given the players still at the club, it’s unlikely to be a transfer that Liverpool will regret in the years to come.
