Matthijs de Ligt is reportedly in talks with Barcelona over a summer move to the Nou Camp, according to Spanish radio station Onda Cero.
The Dutchman has sparked interest from clubs across Europe with his mature displays in the middle of the park for Ajax Amsterdam. His performances against Real Madrid in the Champions League were particularly impressive.
Liverpool have been linked with a move for de Ligt but reports from Spain suggest a deal will not be agreed. In fact, it appears as though the young Dutch star could have a deal agreed for his switch to Barca as soon as mid-April.
Mundo Deportivo claims that the defender will meet with Edwin van der Sar, Marc Overmars and Barcelona representatives on Monday and Tuesday.
If de Ligt is on his way to Liverpool, there is a chance that Klopp and co. have decided to keep faith with Joe Gomez and believe that he can remain fit for an entire season.
Since joining the Reds, the former Charlton Athletic defender has been injured for at least 116 days during three of his five seasons at the club.
That said, if he can move past his major injuries, Liverpool have one of the most talented defenders in the world on their books and ready to make big things happen.
Before he broke his leg this season, Gomez was one part of the strongest defences in England. While I would love to see Klopp go all out and sign the likes of Raphael Varane, it would make me even happier to see Gomez reach a similar level at Liverpool.
