Real Madrid will not accept any transfer offers for Liverpool target Marco Asensio this summer, reports the Mirror.
Sadio Mane is reportedly a target for the European heavyweights but the Reds are unlikely to sell. Zidane has plans for the Senegalese but is also prepared to hold onto his best players.
Los Blancos boss Zidane said on Asensio: “I have spoken to him and told him that he will be fundamental to the team. And I want him here with us.”
Liverpool are reportedly interested in the Spaniard but despite their supposed interest, Zidane has no interest in selling the 23-year-old.
Liverpool are in need of a creative midfielder and although Asensio fits the bill, Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to pay what Real Madrid would likely ask for him. Since Philippe Coutinho left in the summer, there has been a distinct lack of creativity in midfield.
The Brazilian’s goals from midfield allowed Mane, Firmino and Salah to operate with freedom in that they weren’t the only source of goals. Now, with the latter two struggling to find the back of the net, the onus has fallen on Mane.
Fortunately, the no.10 has shouldered the responsibility and has scored seven goals in his last five but if he suffers a lack of form then Liverpool could be in serious trouble.
Klopp’s priority this summer has to be to sign a new attacking midfielder.
