Joleon Lescott says that not a single Liverpool player could make it into Manchester City’s starting XI.
He said: “Both Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp will each be happy with their own team and their players suit their styles of football.
“I’m not sure I’d take a single one of Liverpool’s players for Man City’s team, but it’s fair to say both have put together great squads.
“From a Man City perspective, I have been very impressed with Aymeric Laporte this season, who has arguably made a similar impact to what Virgil Van Dijk has at Liverpool.”
The Reds have played some special football this evening and Virgil van Dijk is the favourite to win the PFA Player of the Year. His fantastic defensive displays for Liverpool have ensured that Liverpool have mounted an impressive title race this season.
To suggest that not one single Liverpool player would make the City starting XI is absurd. After Aymeric Laporte, City don’t have a single centre-back that is even worth comparing to van Dijk. In Benjamin Mendy’s absence, Guardiola has had to play Fabian Delph and Oleksandr Zinchenko in his place – both are natural midfielders.
The only area of the pitch that I would say City are untouchable is in central midfield as they are able to boast the likes of the Silvas, Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne and Fernandinho.
I believe that City have the best squad in the Premier League but they certainly aren’t perfect.
