Alberto Moreno will be reunited with Lucas Leiva if he completes a summer switch to Lazio as his contract expires at the end of the season.
The Independent reported this week that the Spaniard is closing in on a move to Lazio as he is tired of playing second fiddle to Andy Robertson.
The former Sevilla fullback posted pictures of him and his family enjoying time out in Rome as speculation grows over his reported move to Lazio.
While the 26-year-old has never been a top class defender, I am pleased to see that he will get a chance to play regular football again when he moves to Italy in the summer. He might have made grievous errors in cup finals before but Moreno has always been an incredibly likeable player.
Moreno will be reunited with Lucas Leiva if he joins Lazio after the Brazilian moved there at the start of last season. He has been a terrific performer for the Italian side since signing and has even worn the captain’s armband.
Lucas’ change of fortune since moving to Serie A will be a sign of encouragement for Moreno, who is in need of a career revitalisation. His development has stagnated as a result of not playing football regularly and should be excited about what the future holds for him.
Meanwhile, Liverpool will no doubt be in the market for a new deputy to Andy Robertson. The Scotsman has played virtually every game this season. Moreno might be needed, however, to play against Porto in the Champions League quarterfinals next month as Robbo will be suspended for the first leg.
