Liverpool are desperate to win the Premier League and Matt Le Tissier says the Reds’ title bid will be aided by Manchester United.
After beating Fulham 2-1 in dramatic fashion, the Merseysiders are two points clear at the top of the table but have played a game more than Manchester City.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Le Tissier said: “I think United will do everything possibly imaginable to stop City winning, even if it does give Liverpool the advantage.”
I believe that if Liverpool are top of the table by the time City play Manchester United and the Blues drop points at Old Trafford, the Anfield outfit will go on and win the Premier League.
Sadio Mane’s electric goalscoring form looks as though it could carry Liverpool over the line. The former Southampton man has scored 17 goals in the league this season, the most from open play and one behind top goalscorer Sergio Aguero.
Spurs and Chelsea are the toughest remaining games for Liverpool but both will need to visit Anfield which will boost the Reds chances of victory.
City’s FA Cup exploits could prove to be their downfall in the league as they aim to win the quadruple. Their game against Cardiff has been moved for TV scheduling and they will now play their FA Cup semi-final just 72 hours before their next league game.
Klopp will be sure to have his players raring to go against Tottenham to ensure any City slip-ups are taken advantage of by Liverpool.
