Spanish transfer expert Guillem Balague has ruled out a summer move for Sadio Mane, saying on his YouTube channel that Real Madrid are interested in signing a forward.
Yesterday, a report from the Guardian claimed that Los Blancos were willing to offer Raphael Varane in exchange for Sadio Mane.
Ballague has refuted these claims, saying: “[Is Sadio Mane a Real Madrid target?] No.
“Their intention is to get a striker, but there’s no money at the moment.”
As much as I would love to see Varane in a Liverpool shirt, it’s not a transfer I’d like at the expense of Mane. On current form, the 26-year-old is the best player at the club and is just one goal away from being the joint top goalscorer in the Premier League.
As much as Mohamed Salah was incredible last season, Mane has stepped up at a crucial point this year. His goals over the last few weeks have almost singlehandly ensured Liverpool are still in the title race.
Against Fulham, he scored and won a penalty to help the Reds to a dramatic win that sent the Reds back to the top of the table.
Regardless of the reported interest from Real Madrid, there was no guarantee that Jurgen Klopp would have even sanctioned his sale.
