Virgil van Dijk says goals will come for Mohamed Salah

Virgil van Dijk says Mohamed Salah will return to his prolific best and that every side in the Premier League would love to have him starting for them.

Speaking to the club’s official website, van Dijk says Salah is world class despite his goal drought.

The Egyptian hasn’t scored in his last seven games in all competitions and has just four goals in his last 12. Comparatively, Mane has scored 11 goals in his last 12.

“Mo is a world-class player,” van Dijk told

“People can say all they want but I think all the teams in the Premier League would love to have him in their side. We have him and I think he is playing well.

“The goals will come.”

Salah might not be scoring but his goal threat from the right-hand side is still creating a problem for opposition. With sides looking to double mark the former Chelsea forward, Mane and Firmino have found more space in central areas.

The result was that he won the game-deciding penalty as he was in a position to pounce on a spilt Salah shot. Sergio Rico felled him in the box and James Milner stepped up to dispatch the ensuing penalty.

Liverpool are top of the Premier League after their win at Craven Cottage and will look to pile the pressure on Manchester City over the next month.

City play their game in hand against Manchester United at the end of April.
