This season could be Liverpool’s best chance to win the Champions League as several big sides have been ejected from the competition.
It might be that the focus for the Reds this season is on winning the Premier League but if you look closely, the Champions League is there for the taking.
Of the big sides to qualify for the knockout stages, only a few remain and all are beatable.
Real Madrid won the Champions League three years in a row but are out thanks to the efforts of minnows Ajax. Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and PSG have also been knocked out.

The big sides that remain are all fallible and Liverpool are known for beating the big boys when it matters. Manchester City, Barcelona and Juventus are still in the tournament but the Reds will fancy their chances.
Klopp has mentioned several times this season that he isn’t focussing on just the Premier League but will try and win the Champions League as well and this is music to my ears.
Liverpool were blessed in the quarterfinal draw as they were paired with Porto – easily the best possible draw. Last season saw the Reds knock out the Liga Nos outfit in the quarterfinals with a 5-0 aggregate scoreline.
If Klopp’s side makes it to the semi-finals, it will likely be against a much tougher side but if anyone is going to mastermind a European win over a top side, it’s the German.

Klopp has a 100% success rate in two-legged European ties as Liverpool manager. His overall record throughout his career is 80% and this is surely likely to go up when he faces Porto next month.
Liverpool fans love European nights out and I believe that the Kiev demon can be exorcised in Madrid in May.
