Jordan Henderson could be fit to join England on international duty this month despite it initially appearing as though he might only return to face Spurs at the end of March.
Klopp provided an update on the skipper’s fitness, saying: “Yeah, it’s Hendo and Hendo will go to the national team. I think he will have two or three days at Melwood with his rehab.
“But it looks positive, and I think he is in contact with Gareth that when he can train, he goes to the national team. And if he plays, then Gareth will decide. It was not that serious. And now in three or four days he should be fine.”
The 28-year-old suffered an ankle injury against Bayern Munich on Wednesday last week and missed Liverpool’s win over Fulham as a result.
Henderson might not be everyone’s cup of tea but he will be important in the next couple months. Liverpool are into the Champions League quarterfinals and will need as many players fit as possible.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is making a return to fitness and should be back after the international break. The former Gunner was the Reds’ best midfielder in the buildup to the Champions League final last season.
While Chambo was the most impressive midfielder last season, Henderson delivered a few big game performances as well. Hopefully, Hendo can get through the international break without further incident.
