Liverpool progressed to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday evening with a 3-1 win over Bayern Munich.
Ferdinand has claimed, according to the Independent, that England is set for a period of European dominance.
All four Premier League sides have made it to the last eight and Ferdinand believes this is significant.
He said: “We mentioned the cycle before the game and it seems like it’s turning in England’s favour.
“Four teams have come through. No, it wasn’t a great performance from Liverpool. We’ve seen them play better but at this stage, knockout football is not about performing sometimes.”
Liverpool made it to the final of the UEFA’s premier club competition and with PSG, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich out, they could go all the way again.
I don’t believe England is necessarily set for a period of prolonged dominance in Europe but having four sides in the quarterfinals is certainly impressive.
