Liverpool reportedly interested in signing Matthijs de Ligt and Hakim Ziyech

Liverpool are planning a sensational double swoop for Ajax duo Matthijs de Ligt and Hakim Ziyech.

The Reds are enjoying their most impressive season under Jurgen Klopp as they chase down Manchester City, having cut the point gap between the two sides from the end of last season from 25 points to 24 as thing currently stand.

Barcelona are the favourites to sign de Ligt and having already signed Frenkie De Jong for £65million, it’s easy to see why his Dutch counterpart would want to follow suit. One question that remains is whether or not Barca have the money to sign de Ligt as he is sure to cost more than De Jong.

It might be that Barca are preparing a major sale with Philippe Coutinho a player that could leave given his struggles this season.

The Bleacher Report claims that sources close to them are aware that Liverpool are interested in signing the 19-year-old but have reservations over paying £75million to sign him. Virgil van Dijk, an established Premier League defender, was signed for the same amount just over a year ago.

Hakim Ziyech, BR state, is also on the Liverpool summer wishlist. Before the start of the season, many fans on social media expressed their admiration for the Moroccan but also admitted their concern over his ability to cope with the physicality of the Premier League.

Raphinha, Coutinho and Tielemans: The signings Liverpool could make this summer

As far as I’m concerned, as much as it would cost, signing de Ligt and Hakim Ziyech would perfect Liverpool’s starting XI.

If that was all that Michael Edwards did in the summer, I would be over the moon and given the way Klopp has Liverpool playing and the financial status of the club, it’s not impossible.

Just improbable.
