Naby Keita has not been named in Liverpool’s squad to face Bayern Munich after missing training on Tuesday and the club has confirmed he is carrying a minor injury.
Liverpool are looking to overcome Bayern and secure safe passage to the Champions League quarter-finals. After keeping a clean sheet at home in Virgil van Dijk’s absence, the Reds will be feeling confident about their chances.
After starting in the corresponding fixture on Merseyside, Keita will sit this game out with what the official club website has described as a minor injury. Jurgen Klopp’s side only needs a draw or a narrow win to knock Bayern out.
Adam Lallana is an option for Klopp in Keita’s stead – he actually started ahead of him against Burnley on Sunday; but given how Liverpool usually set up in big games, it’s likely a midfield three of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Georginio Wijnaldum will be sent out to do a number on Bayern.
James Milner is another useful player and is one that Klopp has often decided to turn to in the big games. The Englishman was a key performer last season on the way to the final and could be called upon to inspire his teammates to another spirited European performance.
Liverpool squad: Fabinho, Van Dijk, Wijnaldum, Lovren, Milner, Firmino, Mane, Salah, Alisson, Henderson, Sturridge, Moreno, Lallana, Mignolet, Shaqiri, Robertson, Origi, Matip, Phillips, Kelleher, Alexander-Arnold.
