Reports from Spain claim that Chelsea have entered the race to sign Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona as the Brazilian’s future remains the subject of speculation.
Liverpool sold Philippe Coutinho last year January for a transfer fee that could rise to £142m with add-ons.
It was one transfer in a month that seemed to shake the very fabric of the transfer network and although the natural order of things seems to have been reset, this summer could be another mindless spending frenzy if reports are to be believed.
Neymar is apparently heading back to Barcelona and for poor Coutinho, that means he is to be used as a financial pawn once again and Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in signing the former Liverpool star.
Apparently, Barcelona only want £100million.
Paris Saint-Germain need to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations and Barcelona are willing to sell Coutinho to fund a move for the man they bought to replace him with a year ago exactly. Cold.
Chelsea have asked the Catalans to be kept in the loop as the Coutinho and Neymar story continues to write itself.
Manchester United are also said to be interested but they are in need of defenders before they begin to think of buying attacking reinforcements. I personally think Liverpool would be stupid not to make a move to resign Coutinho if it meant one of Chelsea or United got him.
