Former Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho could be sold by Barcelona to fund a move for the player he was brought into replace: Neymar.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward hasn’t quite managed to establish himself as the world’s best player since leaving Barcelona as was allegedly his reason for leaving Catalonia.

Apparently, Neymar was fed up with being in Messi’s shadow and forced through a £222m move to PSG and ahead of the 2019 summer transfer window, we are apparently set for a repeat of the 2017 window which saw valuations skyrocket.

Another occurrence we could be set to witness is the transfer of Philippe Coutinho, with the former Liverpool man struggling to nail down a place in the starting XI at Barcelona as Ousmane Dembele’s improved form a key reason as to why he is struggling.

If Barcelona were to sell Coutinho, I would love to see him return to Liverpool while some think he could go to PSG in a player plus cash deal for Neymar which would admittedly make a lot of sense.

While Liverpool have splashed the cash recently to sign the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Alisson, Naby Keita and Fabinho, I struggle to see the Reds spend over £100million to re-sign Coutinho.

His presence in the starting XI has been a big miss even though Liverpool find themselves at the top of the Premier League and I would welcome him back to Anfield with welcome arms.
