Daniel Sturridge took to Instagram on Wednesday to celebrate his sixth season as a Liverpool player but gave a number of fans a fright with the wording of his post.

The English forward signed for Liverpool in January 2013 and has always been brilliant when fully fit, almost helping the Reds win the Premier League in the 2013/14 season.

He posted a collage of his best photos in a Red shirt, with his caption starting with the words, “Through the ups and downs, wins and losses the fans have shown love. Much love from me to you.”

If you had decided not to read for whatever reason, it might have seemed as though it was a goodbye message to fans with speculation ongoing over where his future lies.

The rest of the caption read: “Much love from me to you. As a token of my appreciation, I’m gonna do a giveaway in the next couple days. P.s my tongue is always out when I celebrate.”

The second half of the caption allayed fears among supporters that the Englishman was on the verge of leaving the club but one Liverpool player was still concerned, with Xherdan Shaqiri commenting: “Alles gut brudaaaa?!”

Despite the moment of panic, reports claim that Sturridge will be offered a new contract amid interest from other clubs.

Just like you, I am a hugely passionate Liverpool supporter. I started Rousing the Kop in January 2015 and since then it has grown tremendously and has even been nominated as 'Best New Football Blog' in the Football Blogging Awards.
