Joel Matip has denied any suggestion that he is thinking about moving away from Liverpool in the January window after being linked with a move to Turkey.
The Cameroonian is a good squad option for Jürgen Klopp to have and him leaving would leave the manager a bit short on centre halves in the event of an injury to either Joe Gomez or Virgil van Dijk.
As it is, Lovren began the season with a stomach injury and has a history of picking up knocks or falling ill throughout the year.
But Matip has put to bed any claims that he is moving to a new club in January or even thinking about it.
Matip told The London Evening Standard: “I only concentrate now on the season on Liverpool and there’s nothing else in my mind. Everything else would only distract me.
“I’ve got to wait for my opportunity, I have to work hard – this is the life of a player.
“I try to be in the best form I can be and to be ready if I had to be.”
Liverpool’s next game is in the Merseyside Derby as they host Everton at Anfield. The Reds are looking to preserve their record against the Blue as well as their unbeaten run in the Premier League as they look to catch Manchester City.
