Liverpool have been linked with Borussia Leverkusen forward Leon Bailey several times over the last year but he has now set the record straight regarding his future.
As you would fully expect with the January transfer window looming large, transfer stories are popping up left, right and centre.
One story which seems to crop up every few months or so is Leon Bailey making a move to the Premier League and while I am confident he will one day play in England’s top division, he has made it abundantly clear that he is waiting for the right moment.
“Manchester United, City, Chelsea, Liverpool – a lot of clubs were interested,” the Jamaican told FourFourTwo. “But the most important thing as a pro is taking things a step at a time and not rushing to the top too quickly. Because once you get there, where do you go next?
“I believe the right timing is important, and it was the right moment to be at Bayer Leverkusen. They are a tremendous club with so much history. A lot of good players have come from there; they can get into the Champions League and are always doing well.
“My focus isn’t really on moving anywhere yet. I’m just about what’s happening right now rather than what could happen in the future. I’m still learning.”
Liverpool play Red Star Belgrade this evening and although Klopp will need to make do without Xherdan Shaqiri after leaving him at home for political reasons, he will be confident that the likes of Salah and Mane can get the job done without the Swiss forward.
