Liverpool’s interest in Athletic Bilbao winger Iker Muniain will amount to little if reports are to be believed as he plans on rejecting interest from other clubs to sign a new contract with the Basque outfit.
The jury is still out on whether or not Liverpool are actually seriously interested in the 25 year old but if we are to trust the claims that say the Reds are, it would appear as though that interest will amount to little.
Claims surfaced last week that Liverpool were keen to add to their attacking depth by signing Iker Muniain in January or next summer, with Xherdan Shaqiri being deployed in a deeper creative role than he has been at his previous clubs.
Marca, via Sport Witness, report that the Muniain is planning on snubbing interested parties to sign a contract extension with Bilbao.
If Liverpool’s interest is genuine, it might be a bullet dodged as the Spaniard has yet to really set the world alight in the same way that Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah have over the last 15 months.
Although he would theoretically arrive for next to nothing (or for free), Klopp would likely prefer to sign a better player and justify the outlay.
