Liverpool take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening and the Gunners are faced with a selection dilemma as a few starters are ruled out of action through suspension and injury.
The last time these two sides met in the Premier League at the Emirates, a frantic clash in December last year, the full time scoreline read 3-3 and while we should expect goals, I highly doubt this Liverpool backline will concede three in one game.
The first 10 Premier League fixtures this season have seen the Reds concede a measly four goals and keep six clean sheets, with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City unable to score against the Merseysiders.
And with Granit Xhaka and Stephan Lichsteiner potentially starting at fullback for Arsenal, Jurgen Klopp’s side could run riot. Even if Sead Kolasinac is fit, the 25-year-old is known to switch off defensively after foraying forward to aid his side’s attack.
There have been some suggestions that Mustafi could be rested at centre back after he played against Blackpool on Wednesday but I find it hard to believe the German wouldn’t be selected to face Liverpool.
Arsenal will have an incredibly strong attack with their in form strikers in Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang a problem for Liverpool’s back line but I think if Xhaka and Lichsteiner start at fullback they could be horribly exposed.
Their lack of pace against two of the fastest players in the Premier League in Salah and Mane will be a concern for Unai Emery and could result in a lot of space being created in between the lines for Liverpool to exploit.
Predicted Arsenal XI: Leno, Lichsteiner, Sokratis, Mustafi, Xhaka, Torreira, Ozil, Ramsey, Iwobi, Lacazetta, Aubameyang.
