Liverpool have received a major boost ahead of the Premier League clash with Huddersfield as Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are both expected to start.
After an international break that saw four starters injured, Jurgen Klopp will be pleased to hear that two will be fit to face Huddersfield even if Sadio Mane and Naby Keita will not be available for selection.
James Pearce reports for the Liverpool Echo that Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are likely to be fit for the trip to Huddersfield and although David Wagner’s side is unlikely to pose many major issues, Klopp will be pleased all the same.
Salah hasn’t looked as sharp as he did last season despite the underlying stats suggesting that he isn’t playing as poorly as some would have you believe. The Egyptian, despite his goal slump, is still hugely important to Liverpool and will provide pace to break the Terriers down.
James Pearce writes: “Mohamed Salah is set to be passed fit for Liverpool’s Premier League clash with lowly Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
“Virgil van Dijk has also trained and should be available to retain his place at the heart of Jurgen Klopp’s backline.”
Liverpool will be hoping to keep the pressure on Chelsea and Manchester City, with all three sides joint top of the Premier League table with 20 points after eight games played.
