Liverpool target Nicolo Barella has responded to talk of him moving to a new and bigger club, with the Reds a club in the mix, saying he is not thinking about transfers right now.
With the January transfer window looming large, talk has already begun about the players that might make a switch and Liverpool are inevitably in the thick of things as Jurgen Klopp seeks a fix for his midfield creativity conundrum.
The Reds are struggling to create many goalscoring opportunities from midfield and moving forward, this could present a roadblock in Liverpool’s attempt to win its first league title since the commercial rebrand in 1992.
While many fans are desperate to see Nabil Fekir join the club and have stumbled upon his ‘privated’ interview with LFCTV on Liverpool’s YouTube channel, Cagliari’s exciting young midfielder Nicolo Barella is also a player that could help the Reds.
Speaking about being linked to Manchester United and Liverpool, Barella said that he is proud to be mentioned in the same breath as bigger clubs but that his focus, for the time being, is helping Cagliari stay in Serie A.
He said: “I’m not the one who sorts out the transfers.
“It’s the agents, presidents and clubs who do that. I only think about Cagliari and to stay up in the league. We’ll see about the rest.
“The interest from big clubs is pleasing and makes me proud. It means I’m doing the right things.”
