A journalist on Twitter has said that Reds target Lucas Paqueta’s agent is in Liverpool which could be a hint that the Brazilian is edging closer to a move to the Merseyside giants.
The 21-year-old plays as an attacking midfielder for Flamengo in Brazil and his incredible work rate and desire to always have the ball has seen him compared to current Liverpool player Roberto Firmino.
Paqueta would certainly suit Jürgen Klopp’s high intensity system while providing more depth in attacking midfield, with the Reds lacking an out and out playmaker, especially with Adam Lallana’s continued injury problems.
Andersinho Marques, a Brazilian journalist, has claimed that Paqueta’s representative is currently in Liverpool and with a total lack of further information, many on Twitter have drawn the conclusion that he is on Merseyside to enter into negotiations with Liverpool.
The midfielder is reportedly valued at around £69million and if reports from three weeks ago are to be believed, Manchester United, Barcelona and AC Milan are all interested which could spark a bidding war in January.
Moving to Liverpool would be a risky move for Paqueta given the time it often takes new players to grow accustomed to the demands of Jurgen Klopp but he seems like he would be a natural in the German’s tactical system.
He is known to be an incredibly hard worker and the strong core of Brazilian players at Liverpool would certainly help him get situated in England and make the transition to life in the Premier League easier.
