Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Manchester City goal machine Sergio Aguero is a doubt to face Liverpool next weekend as he struggles with a foot injury.
After trailing for 64 minutes at Stamford Bridge, Liverpool managed an equaliser against Chelsea on Saturday to salvage a point and stay joint top of the Premier League. The Reds’ goal came courtesy of a stunning finish from the timeless Daniel Sturridge.
Next up on the agenda is a Champions League group stage game against Napoli before Liverpool host Manchester City at Anfield in an early clash of two of the Premier League’s heavyweights.
While he isn’t one to wish for rival players to get injured, Klopp will be buoyed by the news that Sergio Aguero might miss the Anfield clash as he struggles with a foot complaint.
Pep told reporters after City’s 2-0 win over Brighton: “Sergio is struggling a bit with some problems in his foot. He’s not 100 per cent. He’s not recovered from what happened against Newcastle.
“We spoke about playing 55-60 minutes and we were lucky that he scored a goal in the right moment. We are controlling, fighting but he needs time. Now we have two games left before the international break.
“Hopefully he can do these two games and make a final recovery but he’s not in his best condition right now physically because he has a problem with his heel.”
