Jürgen Klopp was asked about Mario Götze during his pre-match presser ahead of a Carabao Cup fixture with Chelsea and his response was a classy one.
Former Dortmund player, Kevin Grosskreutz has urged Götze to join the Reds as he really struggles for form in Germany.
He told German TV: “I’m very sorry for Mario Götze at the moment because stuff is written about him – and only him – every day. In Brugge, for example, the whole team didn’t play well.
“Maybe it would be good for him to go abroad in the winter to find a bit more peace and bring his career back on track. (Jurgen) Klopp knows him quite well, he would be a good fit for Liverpool.”
When asked about interest (or alleged interest), Klopp showed his class with his response as he refused to talk about his former player. It’s never been the German’s wont to talk publicly about transfers, much less about those he is close to.

Klopp said: “Absolutely nothing I would want to talk about in a press conference in England before a game against Chelsea! If I have to say something to Mario then I would call him!”
Götze rejected the Reds in 2016 as he told Klopp he would wait to see if Liverpool qualified for the Champions League before making a decision on moving to Merseyside or not. Sadio Mané joined the club instead and as they say, ‘the rest is history.’
