Liverpool have reportedly jumped to the front of the queue in the race to sign 21-year-old Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella and Ragnar Klavan’s move to Italy has forged a strong relationship with the Serie A outfit.
While the focus is not on incomings at this stage of the season ahead of a huge Champions League clash with PSG on Tuesday, Liverpool’s scouting team headed by Michael Edwards will be scanning Europe for the next big thing.
One player that is reportedly a target for the Reds is Cagliari star Nicolo Barella. Having made the step up from Italy U21s to the senior squad last season, the midfielder is a rising star and apparently highly thought of by Jürgen Klopp.
The Express claims that “Klopp is confident of getting his man who has continued with his eye-catching form for the Italian side since the start of the new season.”
It is said that Klavan’s move to Cagliari has forged a strong relationship with Liverpool and that the Estonian’s late summer switch could aid any future deals with the Serie A outfit.
Barella has admitted to wanting to move to the Premier League with his admiration for LFC stakeholder Lebron James thought to be helpful if the Reds look to make a move for him in the future.
He said: “If I had to choose between Serie A and the Premier League, I’d go for England because I like the way they approach the game. Plus everyone there is just as irritable and prone to fouls as me!
“My dream is to get a nice house with a garden and a pool and to meet LeBron James.”
