Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel is considering resting Neymar against St. Etienne this weekend as he looks to have his star player fit to play Liverpool.
Liverpool and PSG will lock horns next week in the first game of the Champions League group stages at Anfield. The game is sure to be a fascinating contest as both sides enjoy playing open, expansive football.
In a way, the game will be a contest between either side’s forward lines as Salah, Firmino and Mané look to overcome Neymar, Cavani and Mbappe.
Thomas Tuchel is set to rest Neymar this weekend when the Ligue 1 champions face St. Etienne in a bid to have the Brazilian at his very best after a taxing international break.
Tuchel said: “The only problem is, what’s the risk for him tomorrow night? Can he play a whole match or less and still not look at the game in Liverpool?
“There was the match played Wednesday night, the flight, the jet lag, how he gets back, it’s the same for Marquinhos. I really like him dribbling. In my opinion, it’s our challenge to create opportunities when Neymar can play with his strength, his dribbling skills.
“It is a collective effort, of course, and he adapts very well and he is always concerned by the team and not focused on his game.”
