Lyon manager Bruno Genesio says that Nabil Fekir is struggling to get over his dream move to Liverpool collapsing after Klopp pulled the plug on a £53m deal.
While the Reds have made a perfect start to the season with back to back wins over West Ham and Crystal Palace, some fans still wonder what it would be like had Nabil Fekir got his move to Merseyside.
The Frenchman completed a medical and even conducted an interview with LFCTV ahead of a proposed move to Liverpool, only for the plug to be pulled over concerns that he might suffer another serious knee injury in the future.
The two clubs couldn’t come to an agreement over a restructured payment model and Fekir will now remain at Lyon for the 2018/19 season and manager Bruno Genesio says that the World Cup winner is struggling to readjust to life in Ligue 1.
After Fekir had his heart set on a move to Liverpool, Genesio admitted to reporters that his skipper is not finding it “easy to accept this kind of situation.”
“It is never easy accepting this kind of situation, when you are very near to signing for a club where you want to go,” Genesio told reporters.
“Where you want to reach another level and to give a boost to your career.
“But as I said, it could have been worse for him. He is at Lyon, at a strong club, he is captain of a team who plays in the Champions League.”
