Arsenal manager Unai Emery has spoken about Aaron Ramsey’s future at Arsenal ahead of a massive Premier League opener with Manchester City.
The Welshman was linked with a move to Liverpool last week as England’s top division’s transfer window drew to a close, with Ian McGarry claiming he was considering a move to Liverpool.
“There’s a little bit of interest from Liverpool, I understand,” McGarry said. “So, Ramsey is taking time and quite rightly to weigh up his options.
Despite suggestions that the Arsenal veteran could have made a late switch to Liverpool, new Gunners boss Unai Emery has said Ramsey is important to his side ahead of the club’s massive opening day fixture against Manchester City.
“That’s not my work. For me it’s very important he stays with us,” Emery replied when asked about Ramsey’s contract negotiations.
“His experience here at Arsenal and the Premier League is very important and will give us all the information and performances in his quality.
“Then, the contract is for speaking with the club and the players.”
Now that the transfer window has shut as far as incomings for Premier League clubs are concerned, it’s clear that the Reds won’t be in the market for a new midfielder for at least five months.
