Blackburn Rovers vs. Liverpool - Pre-Season Friendly

Naby Keïta has praised Daniel Sturridge for the role he has played in helping the new Liverpool midfielder settle in at the club after moving to Anfield for £52m.

Sturridge received a lot of praise over the course of pre-season for his sharpness and has even spoken about how his disastrous loan spell at West Brom has taught him to have a greater appreciation for football and his chance at Liverpool.

The way the forward has spoken about the club this summer, you’d imagine he’s been here for five weeks and not five years such is his desire to kick on and prove himself after being plagued by injury for several years.

A fit Daniel Sturridge can be a menace to defenders but he is equally good at keeping other Liverpool stars happy and Keïta has revealed how his transition into life on Merseyside has been made easier by the Englishman.

“I have to say I’ve got a lot of respect for him,” Keita said. “I’ve spent a lot of time with him in this last month and everybody has been very nice to me and very friendly, of course, but Daniel’s obviously a player with great experience and he’s a very good player as well.

“Like a lot of the lads, he’s a good laugh, but he’s also given me a lot of advice about the settling-in process and also in terms of motivation. He’s a very positive and motivating player, so this month has been very good and I’ve spent a lot of time with him. He’s a great guy.

“It’s like with all players, you develop a good understanding on the pitch and I’ve certainly done that with Dan.

“It’s the same with everybody, but I’m very happy when I get the opportunity to play together with Sturridge.”

  1. Keita: “Daniel has gone out of his way to befriend me. It is so obvious that he has some hidden agenda. I’m not dumb. He was hoping, seriously hoping, that our ‘friendship’ would secure him a starting position. His ulterior motive is written all over his face. Everyone in the squad knows it.”

  2. We have to play Daniel on a regular basis he could be the key with our top 3 attackers SMR n our new midfielders Klopp must target the wins against 14 lower teams H/A = 84 pts.n beat the top 5 @ home = total of 99 pts.we would be home n dry PL will be ours
