Liverpool are interested in Leon Bailey and Bayer Leverkusen are apparently ready to consider bids for the winger for around £45million.
On Monday, the player told reporters when asked about Liverpool and Chelsea: “There’s concrete interest.
“What I can say is that my full focus is on developing myself as a young player, and that’s what I’ll focus on. If a club wants me, my management and Bayer 04 will take care of it.”
It’s unclear what ‘concrete interest’ constitutes at this point but it’s more than likely that Jürgen Klopp has his eye on Bailey after he impressed with Leverkusen in the Bundesliga last season.
Despite Bailey’s intriguing words to the media, it had seemed unlikely that Leverkusen would consider selling the forward this summer but it now looks as though they are open to overseeing his departure.
Gazzetta Dello Sport report that the Bundesliga outfit has named its price for Bailey, with bids of around £45million to be considered. They signed the 20-year-old from Genk for just £18million and could secure a tidy profit just a year and a half after recruiting him.
If the Reds were to swoop for him, it would need to be a very hurried deadline day move which is uncharacteristic for Liverpool under Klopp.
