Christian Pulisic may well be on his way out of Borussia Dortmund this summer and with his price being set at £65million, Chelsea lead the race to sign him.
Over the last week, debates on Twitter have been raging over whether Christian Pulisic is the better fit for Liverpool or if Nabil Fekir would have a better impact.
Despite my own personal view that the Frenchman is better in terms of improving the Reds’ chances of winning silverware this summer, Pulisic is a player that has a higher ceiling and would be a boost to the club’s commercial exploits in the United States.
Yet, any chance of signing Fekir this summer is in doubt as reliable journalists are claiming that there is no chance that a deal can be agreed with Lyon before the close of the Premier League transfer window.
As far as Pulisic is concerned, reports over the weekend and now again this morning claim that Borussia Dortmund want to sell this summer after the player’s representatives made it clear that they will not enter into negotiations to extend his contract.
The Bundesliga side now want to sell to get as high a fee for the midfielder as possible and with his contract expiring in two years, they need to act fast to avoid losing out on a huge payday.
Chelsea have reportedly entered into talks with Dortmund but there is no guarantee that they will agree on a fee or even that Pulisic would choose them over Liverpool if the Reds entered the fray.
Given that the Reds pipped the Blues to the signing of Alisson, there’s no argument to suggest that they couldn’t do it again. The short and long-term future at Anfield is a lot brighter than that of the Stamford Bridge outfit.
That, and the fact that Liverpool have money to match the big boys and it would make sense to move for Pulisic.
