Steven Gerrard reportedly wants Ryan Kent on loan at Rangers this summer as the former Liverpool captain looks to add strength in depth up front.
Jürgen Klopp’s starting XI ahead of the 18/19 season looks menacing, especially now that Alisson has joined up. The spine of the German’s side now features the Brazilian ‘keeper, van Dijk, Fabinho, Keïta, Salah, Firmino and Mané.
The number of high-quality players in that side is frightening and Liverpool are already being tipped for a title challenge.
The only negative that can come from having such a strong team is the impact it has on the younger players on the fringes of the squad. For the likes of Ben Woodburn and Ryan Kent, it almost certainly means having to leave on loan.
The Scottish Herald reports that Steven Gerrard wants 21-year-old Ryan Kent on loan this summer as he looks to add to his squad and sure there is strength in numbers.
Christopher Jack writes for the Herald: “Steven Gerrard is set to clinch his tenth signing of the summer as Liverpool winger Ryan Kent edges closer to a loan switch to Ibrox.
“Former Anfield Under-18s boss Gerrard has already returned to Merseyside and completed a move for Reds midfielder Ovie Ejaria after he penned a deal until the end of the campaign.
“And Herald Sport understands that Kent is now on course to follow him across the border and sign on the dotted line with the Ibrox club.
“The 21-year-old has had spells at Coventry City, Barnsley, SC Freiburg and Bristol City in recent years as he has gained vital first-team experience.
“The arrival of Kent is a boost for Gerrard as he looks to add further strength and depth to his squad in the aftermath of the Europa League win over FK Shkupi.”
