Daniel Sturridge has said that he sees his future at Liverpool despite widespread suggestions that he would finally depart Anfield permanently this summer.
Nobody wants Sturridge to succeed at Liverpool more than I do and after the forward’s countless injury spells, it seems as though he might never be the same player but Jurgen Klopp has offered him another chance this season.
The German, speaking after Liverpool’s pre-season friendly stalemate against Bury, told reporters of his desire for Sturridge to remain at the club for the 2018/19 season.
He said: “I always said there is a future, it’s about what we do in the moment. At the moment it’s all good and we don’t have to make decisions.”
Now, Sturridge has spoken on his desire to remain at Liverpool and after seeing him in action playing as a no.10, I hope he can rekindle the form we saw in the 2013/14 season.
“I see myself staying at Liverpool, hopefully being part of the team week in, week out,” said Sturridge.
“Pre-season is going well, so for me it’s keeping my head down and building on that. I’m excited about the season ahead and it feels great to be back.
“We have the tour to come where we face some great teams like Man United, Man City and Dortmund.”
