New Liverpool signing Xherdan Shaqiri spoke about when he first crossed paths with Mohamed Salah when he was at Basel.
On Friday night, Liverpool announced that they had secured Shaqiri on a five-year contract after triggering the £13million relegation release clause in the forward’s Stoke City deal.
It was clear for some time that the 26-year-old would make the switch to Anfield and his arrival will allow Jürgen Klopp to relax somewhat in the event of an injury to either Sadio Mané or Mohamed Salah.
And speaking on the latter, Shaqiri discussed how he first crossed paths with Mo six years ago right before he moved to Bayern Munich.
Shaqiri told Liverpoolfc.com: “He [Salah] came for training and a trial when I was at Basel. He came to train two or three times, I trained with him.
“Then I went to Bayern Munich and he stayed in Basel. I’m happy that I see him here. He had an amazing season last year and I hope he can do it this year too.
“I’m very happy for him that he had this beautiful season because he is a very nice guy, a good guy.”
