Željko Buvač has not returned to Melwood today for the start of pre-season and it is unlikely that he will, with Liverpool not planning on hiring a new coach.
At the end of April, it was reported that Buvač had quit Liverpool after 17 years of working with Jürgen Klopp.
His exit came right before the Champions League final and although it was reported that it was due to “personal reasons”, the lack of details on the why of the matter suggests there is something deeper that caused him to take his leave.
Now, two months later, Liverpool players are returning to Melwood for the start of pre-season and Buvač is still absent.
Zeljko Buvac not at Melwood for first day of training – looks as though he won’t be returning to backroom staff. Klopp will not make another coaching appointment

It looks as though, with Buvač unaccounted for at Melwood without any other notable absentees, Jürgen Klopp will have to do without the assistant manager.

The German is also unlikely to bring in a new coach and will just depend on those around him for the assistance he will need.
What this means going forward is unclear as yet with Buvač often referred to as “the Brain” due to his tactical expertise.
