Marco Asensio’s agent has commented on a story linking his client with a £158m move to Liverpool, saying the Reds could afford it.
On Saturday, Mundo Deportivo claimed that Liverpool have offered Real Madrid €180million (£158.2m) for Marco Asensio.
While that could be true (probably isn’t), the Spaniard has a €700m release clause to ward off interested parties and there is no chance that FSG would pay such an astronomical fee.
Deportivo say: “The offer is ‘on the table’ at Real Madrid, and the Spanish club ‘will study it’.”
Asensio’s representative Horacio Gaggioli believes that not only could Premier League clubs afford the money that Real Madrid would demand for the young Spaniard, they could pay more.
Speaking to Cadena SER, Gaggioli said: “He has an extraordinary future. You can imagine that [the offers] come from England because they can afford it without any problems.
“They could even raise it.”
