Liverpool Echo reporter James Pearce has rubbished stories claiming that the Reds are looking to sign Nick Pope or Thomas Strakosha.

It’s almost a month to the day since Loris Karius made two errors in the Champions League final, resulting in widespread reports that his Liverpool future is in danger.

The Reds are reportedly hugely interested in AS Roma’s Alisson but his €70 million price tag has led to a dampening of any formal approach to the Italians.

As a result, other goalkeepers have been linked with moves to Anfield with Burnley’s Nick Pope and Lazio’s Thomas Strakosha two players tipped for a move to Merseyside.

The Liverpool Echo’s James Pearce reports that there is no truth to reports suggesting that Jürgen Klopp wants either Pope or Strakosha.

Both goalies were touted as cheaper alternatives to the pricy Alisson but it would appear as those reports were “wide of the mark.”

Pearce writes on the Brazilian: “Not only do Roma want in excess of £70million but Real Madrid is believed to be Alisson’s preferred destination. The situation will become clearer after the World Cup finals.”

As things stand, there is no clarity on who Liverpool are targeting between the sticks as there is no clarity on the rest of Klopp’s transfer plans for the summer.
