Russia head coach Stanislav Cherchesov has backed Mohamed Salah to dazzle at this year’s FIFA World Cup and hopes he’s fit to play on Tuesday.
Over the weekend, Mohamed Salah’s agent tweeted that the Liverpool forward will be fit to face Egypt on Tuesday.
The Egyptian has been working tirelessly over the last few weeks to regain full fitness after he bruised shoulder ligaments when Sergio Ramos cynically brought the no.11 crashing down to earth.
With his World Cup dreams in doubt, he left the pitch in tears but now appears set to make his debut on the biggest stage.
Russian manager Stanislav Cherchesov wants Salah to be fit and told the media this, saying: “God willing, he’ll be fit and entertain the fans, not just of Egypt but the whole world. He’s the kind of player who lights up games and tournaments like this.”
Cherchesov also believes that even if Salah isn’t fit to play on Tuesday, Egypt can still cause Russia problems.
He said: “It’s clear they have other players who play at a good level with pretty modern football.”
