Sky Sports’ Vinny O’Connor says that Liverpool could sign Thibaut Courtois this summer as an alternative to Alisson.

Earlier this month, Goal’s Nizaar Kinsella wrote: “Thibaut Courtois remains in no rush to sign a new Chelsea deal but has no interest in signing for one of the Blues’ Premier League rivals.”

This included Liverpool but now Sky Sports reporter Vinny O’Connor claims that Anfield is a potential destination for the Chelsea goalkeeper.

With a year left on his current contract at Stamford Bridge, Courtois hasn’t yet signed an extension and there are prominent suggestions in the media which indicate the Belgian no.1 is on his way out.

O’Connor told the Transfer Talk podcast: “This is an interesting one. He is linked with Real Madrid.

“Chelsea are looking to get a fee for him before he is out of contract. If Alisson going to Real Madrid, would Liverpool look at Courtois?

“It’s whether Chelsea would look to do business with Liverpool [or not].”

I personally don’t believe that the Blues would sell Courtois to Liverpool but after Nemanja Matic moved to Manchester United, a move which saw the two clubs essentially swap spots in the league table, it’s certainly not an entirely unrealistic proposition.
