Sky Sports report that talks have broken down between Liverpool and AS Roma over a fee for Alisson and the Reds are now unlikely to make an approach for the Brazilian.
After a deal for Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir fell through on Saturday, it looks as though Jürgen Klopp’s plans for the summer have suffered another blow.
On Monday afternoon, Sky Sports broke the news that Liverpool are unwilling to meet Roma’s £80 million valuation of Alisson – such a price tag would comfortably make him the most expensive gloveman in history.
Last summer, Alisson’s compatriot Ederson joined Manchester City for a record-breaking £35 million.
The Sky Sports report claims that Alisson’s most likely destination is Real Madrid, with Los Blancos prepared to meet Roma’s massive valuation.
Thibaut Courtois is also a person of interest for the European champions and with the Belgian entering the final year of his contract, he is being linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool originally made an approach for Alisson in January but were sent packing. Klopp is reportedly looking for a new no.1 this summer after Loris Karius’ mistakes in the Champions League final.
It could be, however, that Karius is being granted another chance and Liverpool rescinding interest in Alisson is Klopp’s way of showing his faith in his goalkeeper.
