Divock Origi has hinted at wanting to stay at Liverpool with his comments on manager Jürgen Klopp.

Last season, Danny Ings and Dominic Solanke were the Reds’ only striking options after Roberto Firmino and when called upon, they both failed to make any real meaningful contributions.

Between the two of them, they scored a measly 2 goals in 40 appearances. Granted, almost all of their minutes came from the bench but at the end of the day, Jürgen Klopp needs to have more clinical finishers to call on from the bench.

Divock Origi spent the season on loan at Wolfsburg and he himself endured a torrid time, scoring just 7 goals but certainly represents a more reliable source of goals than either Ings or Solanke.

With a decisive summer ahead, Origi might be given the chance to stake a claim to rejoin Liverpool next season by playing in pre-season friendlies.

On Klopp, Origi said: “I have worked under several coaches and wish to appreciate each one of them.

“Jurgen Klopp though has helped me improve, he knows how to push you into performing, he knows exactly what should happen.”

It seems to be that Origi would like to stay at Liverpool for the 2018/19 season and I think he’d be a better back up option than Ings or Solanke.

  1. Ings hasn’t been given a chance. After his horrendous injuries Klopp has been bringing him in slowly and he wishes he’d done the same with Lalana. As to Solanki he is still young and raw.
