Roma goalkeeper Alisson has hinted that he could have a transfer arranged before the start of the World Cup, leaving just a few days until that becomes clear.
Brazil’s World Cup campaign starts on the 17th of June, in just 6 days, with Switzerland playing the Samba Boys on Sunday at the Rostov Arena.
As many national team coaches forbid transfer activity during their World Cup campaigns, players that will be traveling to Russia this month will either need to have arranged any potential moves before the tournament or wait until they return home to finalise remaining details.
Alisson – according to himself – is no different.
Speaking on his future, Alisson admitted that he wants an end put to speculation over his future and would prefer to be able to focus on the World Cup and the World Cup only.
He said: “I think everything will be resolved before the start of the World Cup, that’s what I want.
“The truth is that I left everything in the hands of my agent. If everything is not resolved, it will be discussed after the World Cup.
“Right now, I’m focused only on the World Cup. There are some possibilities and we are working on all of them, together with Roma, always respecting the club.
“We’ll see if anything happens this week.”
While Nabil Fekir’s move to Liverpool collapsed in spectacular fashion over the weekend, a surprise announcement from the club that Alisson has joined would go down very well with supporters I think.
Personally, if I had to choose between Alisson and Fekir I would chose the Brazilian all day as signing a top goalkeeper is a priority while an attacking midfielder is a luxury – regardless of how perfect he is for Jürgen Klopp’s system.
I’d love both obviously.
