AS Roma’s Alisson Becker has said that Loris Karius needs to keep his head up after making two calamitous errors in the Champions League final.
While there is a lot of speculation at the moment about who will be Liverpool’s goalkeeper next season after Loris Karius basically threw the ball into the net twice for Real Madrid, the German shot-stopper has received support across the board from fellow professionals.
The current Reds’ no.1 enjoyed a very good season between the sticks after being made no.1 ahead of Simon Mignolet.
Curiously, the man linked with replacing Karius this summer, Alisson Becker, has lent his support and has said that all goalkeepers cannot help but empathise when another goalie makes a mistake.
He told Gazeta Esportiv: “I got very sad. We, goalkeepers, when we see a mistake of another goalkeeper, we end up feeling as if they were us.
“It’s very sad to see this, but he needs to put his head up. It is part of football and life must go on.
“He has to be proud to have played in a Champions League final. Of course it’s not what he expected, but it’s part of football.
“We are also subject to errors. We need to work hard not to let this happen to us.”
Liverpool fans want to see either Alisson or Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak join the club this summer to ensure that the Reds are fully equipped to launch an all-out assault on the Premier League.
As yet, there are no major developments on the goalkeeper department but after Karius’ performance in the Champions League final, Jürgen Klopp will undoubtedly be addressing this area of his squad.
Liverpool have already announced Fabinho as having joined the club and it has set a very positive tone heading into the summer transfer window.
