Milan’s Managing Director Marco Fassone has provided an update on the transfer status of Gianluigi Donnarruma and former Liverpool midfielder Suso.
Late last week, reports surfaced in the Italian press that linked Liverpool with a move for Gianluigi Donnarumma.
According to Tutto Mercato Web, Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp met with Mino Raiola about completing a double deal for Donnarumma and Justin Kluivert. Liverpool are yet to make an offer for either teenager.
Now today, Calciomercato reports that AC Milan’s Managing Director has given an update on the transfer status of Donnarumma, as well as on Suso.
Speaking to Radio Anch’lo Sport on Rai Sport, Marco Fassone insisted that despite stories in the press, Milan is keen to hold onto both Donnarumma and Suso.
Fassone said: “Let’s hope that Donnarumma stays with us and marries this project. If he sees prospects and fair offers that match the will of the player, Milan would not oppose farewell.
“Suso has a different situation with respect to Donnarumma because he has a clause in his contract, we would like to keep him, but it does not depend only on us, I have to say that for now we have not received any offers for any of our players”.
Suso said over the weekend that he would like to return to Liverpool “someday” but is happy in Italy. The Spaniard has a £35 million release clause that could see a suitor trigger this summer and with 7 goals and 11 assists this season, there might be one or two clubs sniffing around.
As far as Donnarumma is concerned, the enormous goalie would be a fantastic signing but there is yet to be any real indication that Liverpool are actually interested in the Italian aside from a few tenuous reports.
