Ruben Neves has downplayed suggestions that he will move to Liverpool this season, insisting that he is happy at Wolves and is excited about playing in the Premier League with them.
For a couple months now, there have been rumours floating around that Ruben Neves is a target for Liverpool as Jürgen Klopp seeks to bolster his ranks in the middle of the park.
With Emre Can leaving, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ruled out of action until 2019 and Adam Lallana hugely injury prone, a few new midfielders are required this summer. Naby Keïta is set to officially sign for the Reds on the 1st of July but if Can leaves, the Reds need a new holding midfielder.
At present, reports suggest that Manchester City are favourites, while Liverpool are in the mix.
Speaking to O Jogo, Neves put Wolves’ fans’ fears to bed: “Right now it’s not good for me to risk a way out.
“I feel very good at Wolverhampton, I have no reason to leave because I’m going to play in the best league in the world.
“The fans already know me, the club too, and everyone knows what I can do. I had a great year and I love playing in Wolverhampton, so I have no interest in going out [and leaving], because it’s the best for me and for my future.”
Neves doesn’t leave himself a way out in those quotes, with it pretty clear that the Portuguese midfielder looking set to spend his first Premier League season at Molineux Stadium.
He also seems very level-headed. No wonder Klopp wants him.
One midfielder that, in my view, would be perfect for Liverpool is Guinean Amadou Diawara. The Napoli midfielder was linked with a move to Anfield a week ago.
Reports in Italy claim that Liverpool will make a move this summer and are confident of securing a move for the 20-year-old.
