Liverpool’s principal owner John W. Henry has confirmed that the Reds will be active this summer in the transfer market.
Music to any Liverpool fan’s ears, that is. The club might still have two incredibly important games to play this season against Brighton and Real Madrid but that won’t stop supporters from wishing for more top class players to join the club.
Champions League qualification and glory are on the line but such is the nature of modern football that fans are still thinking about what comes next.
We already know that Naby Keita will be joining the ranks but there are a number of other top talents that Liverpool have their eyes on.
Despite the criticism of FSG over the years, it’s blatantly clear with the purchases of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Naby Keita that they mean business.
John W. Henry had this to say on Liverpool’s transfer plans: “We always invest in the squad every summer. [The fans will] never stop worrying about who is potentially coming and going.
“We realise that any team that goes this deep in the Champions League has a difficult time in the Premier League.
“You have to focus your attention where you can and keep your players healthy playing twice a week. We’re looking forward to next season as well.”
Without looking too far into the future, Henry was asked about Liverpool’s chances of winning the Champions League and his reply epitomises his arrogant approach to sport.
When asked if Liverpool can once again defy the odds and win their sixth European Cup, the Reds’ owner replied: “Absolutely, I do.“
