Both Liverpool and Real Madrid will be encouraged to sign Alisson with AS Roma yet to begin contract talks with the Brazilian goalkeeper.
2018 has been a good year for Loris Karius, with the former Mainz shot-stopper being given the no.1 spot ahead of Simon Mignolet. After being trusted by Jürgen Klopp to do the business, Karius has responded with top displays in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
That being said, the German is still not considered as being the long-term solution between the sticks and many supporters are calling for the club to sign a world class ‘keeper and AS Roma’s Alisson is one man tipped to come in for the Reds this summer.
Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak is also said to be an option but seeing as Alisson is yet to sign a new contract in Rome, Liverpool could look to sign him this summer.
Alisson’s agent has rejected talk that a higher wage packet has been offered to the ‘keeper in a bid to keep him at Roma.
Ze Maria Neis told Tele Radio Stereo: “We still haven’t talked to Roma. Alisson is settled though and he likes the club and the city.“
Club president James Pallotta also told Sky Sport Italia recently: “I don’t have any intention of selling Alisson. I know that several clubs have said that they want him, Liverpool being one of them, but he has a contract with us.
“I’m sure some team will come up with a sack of money to sign him, but for now the decision lies with the coach and Monchi, and we don’t want to sell him.”
While there is yet to be any clear indication that Liverpool are interested, with Alisson yet to commit himself to a new contract in Italy, the Reds could move for him and add more solidity to a much-improved backline.
It would cost a lot for Liverpool to sign him, especially after Mohamed Salah was signed last summer for peanuts and I expect Monchi would like to see the books balanced in that regard.
