Liverpool’s coaching staff will be sweating over the fitness of Sadio Mane ahead of the Reds’ Champions League semi-final second leg against AS Roma on Wednesday.
The Senegal attacker was spotted heading into the Spire Hospital on Merseyside on Thursday and it scared Liverpool fans into thinking he might have picked up an injury against Roma on Tuesday.
He wasn’t pictured in the club’s traditional training gallery in the buildup to the next fixture, prompting more outbursts of worry from the fanbase.
Despite all the omens pointing to a turn for the worst ahead of the most important month for Liverpool in 10 years, the Mirror’s Dave Maddock has reported that Sadio Mane has picked up a thigh injury but will be fit to play in Rome next week.
The rumours that were floating around on social media about Mane being out injured with a serious hamstring injury fit in line with the injury crisis that Jürgen Klopp is having to deal with at present.
The German gaffer has Joel Matip, Emre Can and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out injured for the rest of the season while it would seem as though Adam Lallana will never escape his injury nightmare.
Yet, as things currently stand, Sadio Mane will miss Saturday’s lunchtime kickoff against Stoke City in the Premier League but will be fit to wreak havoc against Roma once more.
In other injury news, Adam Lallana has returned to Merseyside after undergoing treatment on a hamstring injury in Cape Town at the Sports Science Institue of South Africa.
Liverpool are in with a great chance of progressing to the Champions League final in Kiev after they put five goals past Roma on Tuesday. If Klopp’s side can keep their heads at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday, a three-goal advantage might be enough to book their tickets to Ukraine.
