RB Leipzig have taunted Liverpool over their failure to successfully sign Naby Keita early with a cold post on Twitter.
Call it social media nous or be bitter because RB Leipzig have once again managed to hold onto Naby Keita but you can’t deny that Liverpool have slipped up yet again.
With a replacement desperately needed for Philippe Coutinho after the Brazilian joined Barcelona, the Reds failed to bring the Keita to the club six months early and may well have risked a lot more than the £20 million it would have cost to get him.
With Spurs beating Manchester United 2-0 last night and traveling to Anfield this weekend, any mistakes could be costly and could cost the Merseysiders Champions League qualification come May.
RB Leipzig could clearly care less as the Bundesliga side’s official Twitter account made abundantly clear this morning. With the January transfer window slamming shut last night, Leipzig sent a tweet out, saying: “It’s February 1st!”
The tweet was accompanied by a GIF of Naby Keita dancing, a subtle jab at Liverpool’s failure to sign the Guinean.
Keita will join Liverpool in the summer as per an agreement signed in August but given the Reds’ attempt to sign him last month, Leipzig thought it would be an opportune time for a dig at Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Signing Naby Keita would have been a great way to ensure that some much-needed creativity was injected back into the side after Philippe Coutinho’s departure but with RB Leipzig demanding an additional £20 million and Liverpool refusing, the 22-year-old will have to wait until the summer to get his move to England.
The former Guinean national team skipper is the perfect fit for Jurgen Klopp’s style of play with his energy and desire, coupled with his dribbling and offensive output sure to make a huge impact next season.
The only positive to him arriving next season is that he will get a full pre-season which, under Klopp, is imperative.
